Clear answers to common questions about bathroom design, custom tile waterproofing, permits, and remodel timelines.
For most bathroom projects, material and finish selections can be made directly through local showrooms, regional cabinet shops, and our in-house 3D CAD layout modeling. However, if you are planning an expansive, high-end luxury ensuite—which is one of our specialties—we strongly suggest partnering with an independent interior designer to establish your complete aesthetic vision. Once your design plans are finalized, submitting them to two or three licensed builders allows you to compare comprehensive estimates apples to apples.
Fusion Finishing pulls all required structural building permits directly. Licensed trade subcontractors pull their own dedicated electrical and plumbing permits, as they hold the specialized master licenses required by state code to do so. We coordinate all required city inspections throughout the build across Anoka, Sherburne, and Wright Counties.
We build our custom showers using complete, integrated waterproofing assemblies from floor to ceiling. Depending on the project requirements, we utilize proven commercial-grade systems such as Schluter-Kerdi to create an unbroken moisture and vapor envelope behind your tile. When installed strictly to manufacturer specifications, these systems protect your subfloor and framing from moisture migration and are engineered for long-term structural durability.
Yes. Tub-to-shower conversions are one of our most common projects. We remove the existing fiberglass or cast iron tub, adjust the sub-floor drain plumbing from 1.5-inch to 2-inch pipe as mandated by Minnesota plumbing code, frame any custom benches or niches, install a complete waterproof pan system, and build a tiled walk-in shower with frameless glass.
A standard full bathroom remodel typically takes 2 to 3 weeks, while an expansive primary ensuite with structural changes, freestanding tub, and heated floors averages 3 to 4 weeks. We coordinate all inspections and trade schedules tightly to maintain momentum while respecting your home.
